Here are some excerpts from The Glenn Beck Show today....he played video clips ans radio recordings and what I've pasted below represents, partially, what he covered. Beck said, "Obama told us what he was going to do...you can't blame him..." What exactly do you think Obama means in these clips? ********************************************************************************************** PRESIDENT OBAMA: But the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society. And to that extent as radical as I think people tried to characterize the Warren court, it wasn't that radical. It didn't break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers and the Constitution, at least as it's been interpreted. And Warren court interpreted it in the same way that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties, says what the states can't do to you, says what the federal government can't do to you. But it doesn't say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf. And that hasn't shifted, and one of the, I think the tragedies of the civil rights movement was because the civil rights movement became so court focused, I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change, and in some ways we still suffer from that. GLENN: We went through the courts and so we lost focus on the community organizing on the ground, which is the way you bring about redistributive wealth. The Constitution didn't break free from those founding constraints. It's a document mostly of negative liberties. What a powerful endorsement of the most perfect political document in the history of the world. Thank you, Barack Obama sorry. Thank you, Mr. President of the United States. Unfortunately it also didn't bring about that redistributive change that we and when I say "We," I mean Karl Marx wanted so badly. Here was his response to a caller to that same public radio show. VOICE: With Karen. Good morning, Karen, you are on Chicago public radio. CALLER: Hi. The gentleman made the point that the Warren court wasn't terribly radical. My question is with economic changes. My question, is it too late for that kind of reparative work economically and is that the appropriate place for reparative economic work to take place. VOICE: You mean the court? CALLER: The courts, or would it be legislation at this point. PRESIDENT OBAMA: You know, maybe I'm showing my bias here as a legislator as well as a law professor but, you know, I'm not optimistic about bringing about major redistributive change through the courts. You know, the institution just isn't structured that way. GLENN: He needs to change the structure of the institution. Remember, his last phrase was "Community organizing." Now, you might be thinking, okay, Mr. Fatty Fat Fatso, witch white guy, you are just concerned about a piece of your big fat pile of your Brinks truck cash being taken from you and heaven forbid given to, shhh, a person of color. Really? Do only the rich have electricity in this country? I mean, I know they do in Zimbabwe or where George Onyango Obama lives in his hut in Kenya. But most of us don't live in those conditions. I'm just, I'm thinking out loud here that most, if not all, low income wage earners in this country have things like lights, TVs, radios, air conditionings. And they just might be affected by something else: Obama clearly spelled out during the campaign. PRESIDENT OBAMA: Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even, you know, regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I'm capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name, whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money; they will pass that money on to consumers. GLENN: Obama was kind enough to alert us to the fact that some of our rights may be curtailed because we don't want to offend our close personal Euro trash friends and their tender sensibilities with our lifestyle. God forbid we do that. Posted on 07/28/09, 10:07 pm Posted on 07/28/09, 11:07 pm |

Mr. Beck is just another right wing ranter. I wish him well, because he and his colleagues on the rancid right are dividing the Republican coalition, reducing it to irrelevance and electoral impotence. The ssentiments which spike their ratings also separate them from the lives of Main Street folks, struggling with this recession. Sixty percent of personal bankruptcies are caused by medical bills, which the rancid right ignore; their concern is only for the welfare of the top 1% of the economic pyramid.

Boy, what a broad stroke you paint with, Paxton.
I disagree with you re: Glenn Beck. In my opinion, he's no Keith Oberman. Beck is Beck. He is unique in the sense that he states his truth, as he sees it. He does state facts. I know this because I trust but verify....which is his mantra.... You can disagree with his truth, but to say he is the same as Anne Coulter of Sean Hannity is 100% incorrect....(even Bill O'Reilly who used to be an absolute right winger (although he would deny it) has "chilled" a bit.... The other day Beck SHOWED, not mentioned or talked about, a video tape where Obama is saying clearly and without ambiquity, that definately, cap and trade will be a huge expense to the consumer...he talked about utilities having to "retro - fit" and then pass along the costs to the consumer... Now, the fact that he showed a video clip of Obama stating this, does that mean he's a "right winger"?

Climate change could well be the most threatening challenge our planet faces. Will dealing with climate change cost money? Yes indeed. Conservatives do not mind spending money for such boondoggles as F 22s, and the invasion of Iraq, but they rebel at the far more pressing challenge of global warming. However, not dealing with climate change could cost future generations unimaginable sums, and could lead to a planet whose climate threatens human survival. Acknowledging that cap and trade will be expensive is both honest, and necessary.

I should have told you....the tape of Obama was way before he was elected President....it's what he REALLY must think.
I may be wrong, but I don't think he said these things, since elected, but he may have. Truth be known, I would 100% totally respect him, if he sais this while selling "cap and trade"....I know I can handle hardships or burdens, as most people in America can. But when we are condescended to, and lied to by anyone in our govt, doesn't matter what the topic, we get a little pissed off, and then the "topic" becomes mute, imo.

I couldn't agree more one...we, you and I, are similiar in that we question, we have certain beliefs, we are respectful, and opinionated....
With that said. I love Glenn Beck. I think he makes sense...I've seen the left (MSNBC) make their out of context video montages of him, and I have SEEN the Glenn Beck shows they are propogandizing....and the stuff they do, has absolutely no basis in truth..... I like the way he thinks.... his politics are very Libertarian and middle right......I am middle, middle (I took the test so it must be true...)...and I can relate to his mentalness and the way he thinks...I too remember little threads that stick in my mind because I know something isn't right and then I'll start making connections... he connects SEIU (Acorn) with "The Green Czar" (and his minions)... ...and that interview he did with AARP, was freakin awesome...he nailed that guy from AARP. I think that is why they backed off "supporting Obama's Health Care Plan"...I think it must have been "news" to Obama, because he said AARP are behind him when he had his Town Hall.... ...and then the CEO of AARP, the next day said..."no we're not supporting the bill"....and I think that's because Beck questioned AARP's agenda... ....then all of it's members got pissed because they didn't know "they" were suporting Obama's plan....and they let AARP know how they feel....in AARP town hall meetings... Today, though, I saw a commercial made by AARP, it had an ambulance trying to get to the hospital and all these Mercedes were blocking it constantly so it couldn't get by to get "the Geezer" (which is what Ed of the Ed Show called the members...lovely) to the hospital...it was about "blocking Health Care Reform..." ...maybe Mr. Green Czar gave AARP "the word...." Beck said that there is a "link" to the SEIU's website, on the AARP website...I haven't checked it out yet.. Oh, yeah One, you and I can have a daily discussion about Glenn Beck...I never miss him, (or Lou Dobbs) even when he was over at CNN....he's hystrical.. ...and the crazier the media and some members of this administration in "dealing with the Town Hall Meetings", the funnier he is... ..he is such a wise ass, I love it.... Here's something I just pulled off the internet re: SEIU and the Obama email calling all the troops to fight for Health Care... "Obama Health-Care Effort Gets $150 Million Boost From Unlikely Ally 14 Aug 2009 03:32 GMT ... PhRMA is leading the group, which also includes the American Medical Association; the powerful Service Employees International Union; and the Washington-based health-care advocacy group Families USA, with which PhRMA partnered recently on ..."

good to know i am not alone bite, on occassion Beck can be a little stupid, somewhat annoying, but he is making some sense, there is a web there and he continues to try and navigate thru it. I think he acts that way because he is a smart ass, guess ya gotta be one to know one so there ya go. when he plays a clip showing one thing and then another clip contradicting it, what am i supposed to think??
I am willing to listen to any calm explanation of the contradictions, but the vocabulary used by many to describe Beck is just wrong. step up, "show me the money". if he is so wrong, "prove it". expose his lies, find the clips where he contradicting him self. one thing i know is, on occassion his antics cause me to LMAO as scary as they are.

Paxton if you ever bothered to watch Beck, you would find he is NOT a Republican at all! He gave Bush as much crap about all the spending as he is giving Obama. Again, most of my extended family are Republicans and Not a one of them are rich. In fact, the only one that is in that over $250,000 is an Obama fanatic! I would say that Obama's only concern is FOR the ones on welfare. Since my husband works, and we are not on welfare We can not get ANY help with my mounting medical bills even under Obama. Maybe I will throw in the towel, and move into government housing so we can suck off of the system. Isn't that what Obama wants? Everyone dependent on government?
I say Beck Rules! He makes more sense than any person IN government..

I agree fellow Beckians....he gives you facts, not rhetoric and encourages us to "trust but verify" his stuff....
"They" are after him big time now, which is why I want to voice my opinion about what I think Beck REALLY is...I watch him...I'm not a lemming...I like the way he thinks and I feel he "works the 12 steps"...he's a fellow recovering addict...that alone gives me solice because I live my life based upon the "12 steps" like..."promptly admit when your wrong and make amends"..."take responsibility for your actions"...be "rigorously honest".... ...not a bad way to live and my favorite 12 step tradition...."principal above personality"....Yes, I am firmly in Glenn Beck's corner..plus he is so freakin' humerous, especially when he's "floored" by something...
