So Glad This Group Exists

I am very grateful that I joined this support group. I had enough money problems for enough years, and finally I think I am ok, but I need to watch my spending for everything. I think store brands are the way to go for now, except for a box of Cheerios or Shredded Wheat here and there. The wannabees for those taste so awful to me, so I will only buy them on sale. I will do more shopping at the wholesale clubs, and of course watch my heat, shut off unnecessary lights and try not to buy things I don't need right now. We can't just "stop living" but we have to be realistic about it.

I also would like to say that Tina Fey has given me so many belly laughs with her imitation of Sarah Palin. I could watch her impersonations every week, but I usually only get to see them online.

Having never lived through the Depression, the present economy is very, very scary and I limit my time watching the news as it makes me feel very unnerved and anxious. I read the news online, only as much as I can bear without starting to cry.

I have always been a firm believer that people should live within their means, and I never got myself involved with competing with the "Joneses." To me, that is not what life is all about. We should never be judged as to who has more, as it is so foolish. What matters is that people are good to one another.

Let us all pray for a good new President who will help guide us through this mess. We are all in this together.

" yeah. What gets me, is when people criticise what you decide to spend your money on when money is tight all around.

For instance, my family thinks I shouldn't have high speed internet. My sister bad mouths me everysay saying "peoplepc is only $9.99 a month u should get that then you'll have plenty of money"...

I'm like, first off, the $80 I spend on cable+internet+telephone is an exceptional deal, those things separately would be over $200 monthly easily. phone especially long distance charges can get quite costly.

Secondly, she's not a computer person, so she doesn't understand that most websites take too long to load on a 56k modem connection. I was at my step-dads house the other day (he has AOL) and it literally took this site 10 minutes to load!
then when I went on myspace it took about 20 minutes to load all those stupid ads over there. I couldn't get on facebook at all, or my college website to take my online classes. In fact our college even says that a broadband connection is required, specially for the online class discussions, so I told her I says, I can't give up my broadband, not unless you want to bury me in a coffin now. LOL

another thing, is she says I spend too much on food. She was saing to me "well when I was single I spent $30 a week on food for me and 4 kids" yeah steph that was 15 years ago, groceries have inflated since then. *sighs* Besides that, I can't eat grilled cheese sandwiches and romain noodles anymore. I have crohns disease, which means, I have to watch what I eat. I have to stay away from dairy products, sugars and starches..

I'm supposed to eat fresh, or frozen, fruits and vegetables. I can also have any meat or pultry, long as its not deli style or artifical or artificially flavored.

Granted I can do that, but it costs me more then $30 a month...ALOT more... really if I didn't hold back, I could easily spend about $400 a month on groceries easy, but I have been trying to eat as cheap as I can, because I only get paid once a month on social security disability. My sister doesn't understand because her husband makes $100 grand a year.

I guess what my point is, is yeah we need to cut back where we can, but in order for us to make it thru these tough times, we have to stand by one another and be there for each other, not criticice against eachother for how each of us live our lives. I don't go begging my sister for food, so why is it any of HER business what I spend my money on? ya know what i mean?

I get so sick of women and their gossip, criticising other people who are less fortunate, it drives me nutts, especially because most of the ones who criticize like that, are the ones sponging off someone else (like their rich husbands) in the first place, so what do they do? sit around talking bad about other people? don't they have anything better to do?....

The ONLY one who has the right to judge me is GOD himself, nobody else on this earth has that right....not my family, not my pastor, not a friend over the internet who lives on the other side of the country who doesn't even know me......nobody, and when I think of financial challenges, I think too many people are too busy criticizing each other then to ban together and help, in what God would do in that situation.
